Description
Anosmia, (or as it’s more commonly known “smell blindness”) has become much more prevalent in the wake of Covid 19. 700,000 people in the UK alone are believed to have total smell loss caused by the virus, with around six million still experiencing some olfactory dysfunction.
The good news is that studies have shown that inhaling certain essential oils can help to retrain the olfactory nerves and many people have managed to regain their sense of smell using specially designed smell training kits.
The process of smell training involves repeatedly inhaling contrasting aromas, which helps to establish memory of that smell. Recommended fragrances are rose (floral), lemon (fruity), cloves (spicy), and eucalyptus (resinous) all of which can be found in our kits.
Each scent should be sniffed for between 10 to 20 seconds at least once or twice a day. While sniffing, it is important to be focused on the task. Try to concentrate on your memory of that smell. After each scent, take a few breaths and then move on to the next fragrance. It’s recommended you do this for at least 12 weeks (three months), but you can do it longer, alternating the scents if you like.
Our high quality, organic essential oils have been specifically chosen to offer a variety of aromas to help stimulate the olfactory system. This is based on the notion that most people can identify five different tastes (salty, sweet, bitter, sour, and savoury,) a similar thing also applies to smell.
The kit contains 5ml each of Organic Eucalyptus Radiata, Organic lemon, Rose Geranium, and Organic Clove Bud.
Please note that these oils are for inhalation only. They should not be applied to the skin as they may cause irritation. Caution should be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
